I don’t want to fit into a small frame — That’s why I call myself an SGI member
「創価学会員」と言うと、
いつも少しだけ、空気が変わる。
そのたびに、説明や誤解が始まりそうな気配を感じて、
小さく息をのむ。
When I say “I’m a Soka Gakkai member,”
the air around me shifts, just a little.
I can feel the weight of explanations and misunderstandings gathering,
and I quietly hold my breath.
私が信じているものは、「祈り」だ。
祈りはもっと広く、静かで、
国や言葉を越えて響いている。
What I believe in is prayer.
Prayer is broader, quieter—
something that resonates beyond nations and words.
私は、
自分を“創価学会員”ではなく、
“SGIメンバー”と呼ぶ。
That’s why
I don’t call myself a “Soka Gakkai member,”
but an “SGI member.”
その言葉の中には、
世界中の人たちが、それぞれの祈りを生きる姿がある。
そこに私も、ひとりの祈り手として並んでいたい。
Within those words,
I can see people around the world living their own prayers.
And I want to stand among them—
as one person of prayer.
名乗る言葉を選ぶことは、
自分の世界の広さを選ぶことでもある。
私は今日も、
小さな枠を越えて、祈りの海で呼吸している。
To choose the word by which you name yourself
is to choose the size of your world.
And today again,
I breathe in the sea of prayer—
beyond every small frame.
